The charger cable of my laptop near the DC jack has worn out. The cover has torn and the cable inside has snapped. The AC cable ( the cable from AC to charger) is detachable whereas the the DC cable ( from Chargerd to the DC jack ) is fixed. I talked to one guy in Nehru Place if it was repairable but he advised me against repairing it saying that it might kill my motherboard. His funda was there's a wire shield inside the cable which protects from reverse current and it's not repairable ... blah blah.. He seemed an honest chap. But still I can't seem to subscribe to his funda. According to my knowledge the charger just steps down the AC to a constant DC, so how come the reverse current and stuff. The Nehru Place guy was suggesting me to a buy a new charger instead. Now this a costly proposition as I feel my charger is completely ok. It's just the cable inside which has snapped. Original chargers come @ 2000 and compatible ones around 700. Has anyone faced the same issue? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
