Hello I have a 8month old collie who i was hoping to get into agility and just wondered what age can i start taking him too the beginner classes? Is he too young at the moment?

Hi there, 8 mths is too young to start jumping etc as you risk damaging their joints. I wouldn't recommend starting agility properly until your collie is at least a year old (especially as this breed is prone to hip dysplasia.) That said, it's never too early to start perfecting your ground/flat work - recalls, left, right and getting the dog's focus. Probably best if you give Jeff a ring on 07921 786570 to discuss further. I joined Scallywags 3 mths ago with my weimaraner and we've never looked back since! The trainers there are knowledgeable + friendly guys, who never make you feel stupid and explain things really well. Agility is great fun for both dog + handler but beware as it is quite addictive once you get going!
